Feedback Of Our Opening Sequence

I posted the link to our opening sequence on my Twitter to get some feedback. I decided to post it on there as my followers are around the age of 16-18, which is our target audience. These are some of the responses we received:

Editing Our Opening Sequence

We began by arranging our clips into the order in which we wanted them. We then added 'Locked Out Of Heaven' by Bruno Mars as we thought that song gave the right effect to our film. We wanted a happy, upbeat song as it would make Lucy appear relaxed and therefore more vulnerable.

We then used motion in the tabs settings to keyframe a post zoom on the radio.

We then coloured the footage to give it a more professional, cinematic effect and made it widescreen to further enhance that.

We then created a title using the text tool. We put it on V3 so that it enabled the video to still be shown behind the text.

We found adding the radio quite hard as we didn't have it on during filming due to the fact the continuity would not have been right so we had to add it on and ensure that it sounded realistic whilst editing.

Once we had fitted the song on to the timeline, we used the Reverberation effect in audio effects to make it seem like the radio was actually playing.

We added a drop shadow to our title to make it stand out better against the dark background.

This is a close up shot of what our title looked like once we had added the shadow and coloured the footage.

Filming

These are a few shots of our group filming the opening sequence to our horror film. For our filming, we used a shoulder rig and a tripod to help us get steady footage.

This stand goes on your shoulder and enables you to be able to get steady footage. We used this for shots of Danny, the villain, walking down the hallway. This enabled us to get a steady, eye level shot of him walking towards the camera, which made it look like he is walking towards the audience.
This was another shot done using the shoulder rig as it needed to be at eye level again. We had to be extra careful to make sure that we didn't get the camera in the reflection. We also did a shot where we had the camera on a tripod in the sink to make it seem like the camera was the mirror.

This is a photo of us filming the knife being dropped, the last scene of our opening sequence. We used a tripod looking down on the knife and we had it at a slight angle. This reflected the theme of our film as it made things seem unusual and put the viewer on edge as it was unnerving seeing things at unusual angles.

Editing the Opening Credits

We started by getting the best quality Paramount credit we could find on youtube. We then uploaded this to windows movie maker to edit it.

We then lowered the volume of the original track to enable us to add our own music to it. We downloaded a track off of a ringtone website to add onto this. We chose to use a scary track in a minor key to help to build tension and suspense. We also chose this because it is unnerving and foreshadows the theme of horror in our film.

We then trimmed the track so it fitted in time with the Paramount clip. We also added a fade out at the end of the clip to make it end smoothly.

Script

This is the script for our opening sequence, however it is likely that we will adapt it and make changes to it whilst filming.
